Influencial Stallions from the Past that have been the foundation of OCS
Here we outline some of the major stallions that have influenced our breeding programme in the past and some that are looking promising for the future. This information is ideal for customers who are interested in buying a Shire from OCS so that they can see pictures, bloodlines and our opinions and some information about the stallions that have formed the basis of our bloodlines. The following are some of the most powerful stallions in recent times and we are proud to have gained these valuable bloolines in our breeding programme. It may be evident that a lot of the stallions that have formed our core foundation of broodmares are from very old lines but this has been purposefully sought to aim to recreate the quality evident in the past. We are also using bloodlines of "modern" stallions. This means that the horses are similar to the Clydesdales, another breed of heavy horse that has in the past influenced the breed in a positive way. The Clydesdale has input some great qualities into the Shire and we always aim for these modern Shires in breeding and Showing!
Hillmoor Enterprise
Hillmoor Enterprise is argued to be the greatest Shire stallion in the history of the breed to date. He isdominant in our breeding progamme and is the cornerstone of all of our stock, even though he was making his name during the 1970's. Some of our stock is very direct to Enterprise including Grangewood Daphne, Sladbrook Little Gem, Bog Bank Diamond and our Stallion Dothan Charlie are all close relaitives to this modern stallion that has left a huge mark on the breed!

Bodernog Master
Bodernog Master is an incredible stallion. He is absolutely huge, with a great foot, long neck, lots of presence and action second to none! He is the Sire of some of our best foundation stock such as Acle Marchioness, Grangewood Daphne and OC Sunbeam. We have found through our own experience and other breeders offspring that this huge stallion goes well on Hillmoor Enterprise and Walton Supreme bred mares. This stallion has proven himself in the show ring and has been a very successful breeding stallion in his time. We are very pleased to use him and have his bloodlines in our stock.

Dothan Mastermind
Dothan Mastermind was the father of Bodernog Master and so in turn has also played a big part in our breeding stratergy. He was a very big, powerful horse with a dark leg in front. He was a good stock getter and also won his class at Peterborough Shire Show.

Stanley House Aristocrat was a great stallion who had success in the show ring and produced many influential horses for many notable breeders in Cheshire. He is the Dam's Sire of Acle Marchioness who is a very good mare and superb breeder for us.

Cubley Charlie
Cubley Charlie has also been a very important stallion in producing the modern Shire horse for Showing. He was full of quality and repeatedly won the national Championship at the Shire Show. He had a great pedigree and was an outstanding horse. Even though, he was bred many years ago we still strive for his bloodlines. We feel older bloodlines is where the quality is. One of Cubley Charlies most famous daughters, although he had many, was Crossfields Honeysuckle. Honeysuckle was mother to the renown stallion Walton Supreme and our stallion Dothan Charlie. We are very pleased to have Cubley Charlie in our bloodlines, so directly, and in such a young horse as Dothan Charlie.

OC Lady Laura
Old Croft Lady Laura was a very sweet filly that we bred and have subsequently sold. She was foaled in April and by October was shown at Wisbeach Shire Horse Society Foal show and sale. She was placed 2nd in a good class. She was a classy filly that really showed well, going very close behind in her stand show. She had beautiful silky hair desired in the Show Shires and a wonderfully quiet temperament. She is a good representation of the modern type of quality show animal that we aim to breed!

OC Duchess
Duchess was again a very eyecatching filly that was sold privately for riding in the future. She was an outstanding filly, with great joint, hair and a tremendous height of hock. She was a very smart filly that should go on to make a nice riding horse. We believe that every animal has a purpose and can suit different needs for different customers. Some of our foals in the future will be suitable for riding, driving or companions and we do not expect to sell all of our stock to show homes. She was a lovely filly that we were very proud to breed.
Sire: Ruskington Connor, Dam: Acle Marchioness, Dam's Sire: Bodernog Master
OC Imperial Sunbeam
Sunbeam is a very sweet well put together filly foal that is in essence is everything we strive for and aim to breed in a Shire horse. Bay Four white legs she has some great breeding and we are grateful to have been able to use the reputed Bodernog Master. Sunbeam was shown at the 2009 North West and Wales Foal Society Show and finished a respectable 5th place in a strong class! She is a very good show filly and will remain at OCS as show stock to then go into our breeding programme.

OC Lady in Waiting
Lady in Waiting also known as "dolly" was born on the first day of the Peterborough show 2009. This made for a very hectic schedule. We stayed up most of the night and then showed all the next day at Peterborough, so it was a hard weekend! She is full sister to OC Lady Laura, who has had very good show results finishing 1st place twice as a yearling filly with her new Owner in the 2009 season.
